Interworking Support in a Multidicipline Switch
نویسنده
چکیده
The evolving multimedia services are foreseen to be delivered to customers over heterogeneous transport networks. The ATM technology has been considered as the most obvious choice, but other transporting concepts have also been studied and entirely new ones suggested, especially, for IP based communications. Diversity in transporting concepts implies that network nodes, such as switches and routers, should connect to different kinds of networks. This introduces the need to support multiple switching disciplines in a single switching fabric and, additionally, a clear need for interworking. As a solution to the emerging problem, this paper introduces the concept of multidiscipline switching to integrate different switching systems into a compact fabric and to offer interworking between the connected networks.

An Interworking Call Control Solution for a Multidiscipline Switch
The development of multimedia services is pushing networking technologies towards broadband solutions. A lot of research and development effort has been spent on finding a universal transport solution to carrying the different services to end-users. However, it looks that there will be no unifying transport solution to overcome the burden of networking diversity. This implies that the future se...

Demand for high volumes of mobile data traffic with better quality-of-service (QoS) support and seamless network coverage is ever increasing, due to growth of the number of smart mobile devices and the applications that run on these devices. Also, most of these high volumes of data traffic demanding areas are covered by heterogeneous wireless networks, such as cellular networks and wireless loc...
متن کاملBringing Formal Property Verification Methodology to SoC Interconnects
With many system bus alternatives in telecom, signal processing, etc, chip designers face the prospect of having to support multiple interfaces to meet interconnect requirements. Designers must then build next-generation chip architectures that deliver reliable interconnect architectures and ensure interworking between SoC heterogeneous IP blocks. In this article we show how formal verification...
